Live Codes

Live Codes is a website designed for players of online multiplayer games, or by its official title: Massively Multiplier Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG for short).  Most of these games require users to invite other players to join their team to gain an advantage when battling or completing in game missions.  Live Codes has been designed as a centralised resource for players to find and submit codes for popular games like Turf Wars, Racing Live and iMobsters Live.

Live Codes Review

The main requirement for the Lives Codes website was the ability for users to add codes into a database and keep spam submissions from automated bots to a minimum.  Live Codes also wanted a system that would keep users coming back to the site and ensure the codes displayed on the site were current.

Our solution was to integrate reCaptcha, one of the leading free anti-spam form submission solutions available for websites.  This works by presenting the user with a couple of distorted words that they need to type into a text field.  When submitting the form these are compared and if a match is successful the form is submitted.  An audio alternative is also provided for people that find the malformed words hard to read.

To ensure players return to the website and maintain high levels of traffic we created a system where each game only displays the top one hundred recently entered codes.  This also guarantees codes available on the site are up to date and users are still actively playing the game.  We designed the system to first check whether a submitting code was already in the top one hundred before updating its position, thus preventing users from abusing the system.

Currently there are ten games available on the Live Codes website and more can be added quickly as and when they are developed and released to ensure the site remains current with a rapidly changing market.
