Dedicated Hosting & High Availability Solutions

Web Server RackingFor websites demanding high traffic usage or complete exclusivity we offer a range of dedicated and high availability solutions, all fully managed and maintained by our expert team of in-house engineers. The result provides a very flexible and reliable solution leaving you to concentrate on what you do best.

Dedicated Servers

Our range of Windows 2003 Servers provide an unrivalled platform for fast and effective deployment of large web applications. All dedicated servers feature Java based remote management consoles providing full access even at BIOS level.

Each server within the data centre is connected utilising a 10,240Kbps (10mb) data pipe with unlimited bandwidth, and Windows 2003 Standard or Web Edition are available depending on software requirements. The following table details hardware specifications of servers we supply and maintain.

  Entry Intermediate Performance Ultra Ultimate
Data Transfer Unlimited 10,240Kbps (10mb) data pipe
Memory 2Gb 4Gb 8Gb 8Gb 16Gb
Disk Drive(s) 500Gb SATA 2x 250Gb SATA 2x 300Gb SATA 2x 300Gb SAS 2x 300Gb SAS + 1x 500Gb SATA
Processor 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5Ghz Intel Quad Core 2.66Ghz Intel Quad Core 2x 2.5Ghz Intel Quad Core
Operating System Windows 2008 or 2003 Standard, Windows 2008 or 2003 Web Edition, IIS7 or IIS6, Microsoft DNS
IP Addresses 2x IP addresses, upgradeable to a maximum 16 per server
Use Static sites receiving large amounts of traffic or for customers wanting exclusive hosting Disk Drives can be mirrored to provide RAID-1 redundancy, good for hosting database driven applications that require more memory

High Availability Solutions

For applications requiring high availability we can design and implement solutions that cover all major points of failure, catering for a range of budgets. The table below lists some examples of redundant and high availability solutions we have implemented for our clients.

Type Equipment Required Advantage
Redundant Website Backup server maintaining a synchronised copy A cost effective solution providing quick failover in the event of primary server failure.
Load Balanced Website A minimum of two servers Equally distributed traffic between servers, providing redundancy in the event of a server failing. This is an ideal balance between high availability and cost. This option may not be viable for database intensive applications due to associated hardware and licensing costs. This is the most popular high availability solution.
Website with Separate Database Server A minimum of two servers Can provide a more cost effective solution for database intensive applications, splitting responsibilities between servers reducing associated hardware and software costs.
Load Balanced Website with Separate Database Server A minimum of three servers A more cost effective load balanced option for database intensive applications.
Load Balanced Website with Separate Mirrored Database Servers A minimum of four servers The ultimate in high availability. Redundant websites utilising redundant mirrored database servers.

We understand every project is unique and as such we would first discuss requirements to decide the best way forward in keeping hardware and software costs to a minimum without compromising on the availability required.
