How to Add an IMAP Account on the iPhone

This article explains how to add IMAP account details on the iPhone enabling you to download and send emails using your email address.

  1. On the iPhone, tap the Settings icon:

  2. Select 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars', then click 'Add Account...':

  3. Select 'Other', then tap 'Add Mail Account':

  4. Fill in the following fields using the account information provided, for example:

    • Name: John Smith
    • Address: j.smith@mydomain.com
    • Password: ********
    • Description: j.smith@mydomain.com

  5. Then tap 'Save'

  6. The iPhone will then verify the settings before displaying the next screen:

  7. Fill in the remaining fields using the account information provided, for example:

    • Make sure IMAP is selected at the top of the screen and not POP

    • Incoming Mail Server
      • Host Name: mail.keydatahosting.co.uk
      • User Name: j.smith@mydomain.com

    • Outgoing Mail Server
      • Host Name: mail.keydatahosting.co.uk
      • User Name: j.smith@mydomain.com
      • Password: ********

  8. Tap 'Save'.  The iPhone will display a prompt stating 'Cannot Connect Using SSL', tap 'Yes' to try and connect without SSL:

  9. Your iPhone is now setup to send and receive emails from your account:
