How to Add a POP Account in Outlook 2003

This article explains how to add POP account details into Outlook enabling you to download and send emails using your email address.

  1. In Outlook, click Tools, then click E-mail Accounts

  2. Select 'Add a new e-mail account', then click Next

  3. Select 'POP3', then click Next

  4. Fill in the following fields using the account information provided, for example:
    • Your Name: John Smith
    • E-Mail Address: j.smith@mydomain.com
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.keydatahosting.co.uk
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.keydatahosting.co.uk
    • User Name: j.smith@mydomain.com
    • Password: ********

  5. Ensure 'Remember password' is ticked (unless you would prefer to enter your password every time Outlook attempts to retrieve email)
  6. Click 'More Settings...'
  7. On the 'Outgoing Server' tab, ensure 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is ticked and the selection beneath is 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server'

  8. Click OK, then click Next, then click Finish

When you click the 'Send/Receive' button it should check for emails without any errors.
