Network Maintenance

Keydata Solutions Limited offer one of the most comprehensive and flexible range of network maintenance options available, making sure we have a service to meet your exact needs and budget. We offer on-site and remote management maintenance facilities dependent on client preferences. The main areas supported are broken down into the following categories:

Server patches and updates

When a server is connected to the internet, it instantly becomes a target for attack.  If corporate email is sent directly to the server or other remote access facilities are utilised, it is very likely the internet connection is using a static IP address allowing hackers to concentrate efforts on that machine. Brute force and dictionary attacks on passwords are less common today because it is easier for attackers to exploit vulnerabilities that are widely publicised on internet forums and blogs, usually hours after the first successful attack. With a server is constantly running and connected to the internet, inadequate protection increases the chance of a compromise.

We recommend that patching software on the server with the latest updates should be a necessity to any maintenance plan. Certain updates from Microsoft are superficial, with some updates in remote cases causing compatibility issues. Keydata Solutions Limited always review updates to assess their importance and severity, ensuring maintained servers have the maximum protection coupled with the least amount of downtime and inconvenience.

Workstation patches and updates

With increasing amounts of legitimate websites being infected with malicious malware code, workstations with internet access are also more susceptible to attack which could compromise the machine, or worse still, the server and network. For servers with more than a few workstations, we utilise software to deploy updates over the network automatically, reducing administration costs and maximising protection.

Server Status auditing

Auditing is one of the most important tools for assessing how a server is performing, checking memory usage, CPU consumption, disk usage and activity, as well as ensuring required services are running properly under normal operating conditions. We also examine system logs to detect login failures which could highlight potential compromises in the system and to make sure any pertinent warnings are addressed before the system becomes unstable.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

Once a backup and disaster recovery plan has been implemented Keydata Solutions Limited can monitor progress to ensure backups are completing successfully and the data being backed up is verified. This reassurance provides invaluable knowledge that should anything happen to the server or building, clients have valid backups of the system they can depend on.

Anti-virus

As with server patches and updates, anti-virus is another common threat which if not adequately maintained could compromise the system network. Company data is priceless - the last thing you want is a virus emailing itself to all your customers or worse still, uploading company confidential information for anybody to download. When selecting an anti-virus solution it is also important to choose one that does not seriously impact performance. We supply, support and maintain a selection of anti-virus solutions that are very effective at quarantining viruses before they have chance to cause damage. For networks with more than a few workstations, we can also implement server based deployment models that allow the whole network anti-virus system to be managed from a centralised point, speeding configuration and protection.

Anti-spam

Anti-spam is another issue which can be a drain on company resources when staff are having to filter out legitimate mail from the masses of spam email that come through each day. For servers running Exchange, we recommend Exclaimer which is a very cost effective anti-spam solution which requires almost no maintenance once it has been setup.
