Web Design Process
Our approach to web design and web development follows a five-stage process:
Stage 1: Initial Consultation
Following an initial discussion, we will prepare a quotation detailing your requirements together with the fees and time scales for our services. At this stage we may also present some additional ideas and advice that we feel could provide you with more opportunities to develop your site on the internet. If necessary we will then refine the proposal based on any feedback you may have in order to give you a final cost and time analysis.
Stage 2: Design Ideas
Based on your design brief along with any preferences to use as inspiration for the site, we will produce some screenshot example designs to help visualise what the new website might look like. Based on your feedback, these designs might evolve until a final design is agreed.
Stage 3: Web Template Design and Functional Development
With the final design agreed, our development team will then start building the XHTML and CSS templates so you can see a working example of the website in your browser window. This will have a functional menu with dummy pages displaying all design templates and potential formatting styles such as heading titles, tables, highlighted sections and links.
Stage 4: CMS Integration/Content Population
With the XHTML and CSS templates constructed, the next stage is to integrate any CMS or data dynamic functionality before populating the site with content. All work is carried out within a development area away from an existing site or holding page you might have in place on your domain name - this ensures the new site can be completed before making it live to the public.
Stage 5: Completion
With the web site finished to your satisfaction, we will then move it on to your domain name allowing public visitors to browse and enjoy the new design.
What happens after the development is complete?
Once your site is up and running, this is not the end of our relationship. You may want to amend the way the site works, or change text or images. We will always be available to you for ongoing support and maintenance, and any future work requested will always follow the same structured approach described above - no matter how small the update, there will never be any hidden surprises.
How long does a web site take to build?
This will depend very much upon your particular project requirements. However, you can be assured that whether it is a brochure site, online store, cms-driven site, or complex bespoke system you will be given a realistic project plan for the development.
